David’s collection, built over 45 years, includes over 170 lots of Star Wars memorabilia, such as 3¾-inch action figures, playsets, vehicles, books, and other items from across the Star Wars saga.
His journey into Star Wars began in 1978 when, at age seven, he received the Star Wars Annual No. 1 book for Christmas.
The collection spans all three trilogies, with items from the original films, prequels, and even some later releases.
One of the highlights is a handwritten letter from Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) on letterhead featuring the original title, Revenge of the Jedi.
Watson credits his parents, Margaret and Bobby, for helping him build the collection, supporting his passion during childhood trips to Hanna’s Toy Store in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland.
Star Wars wasn’t just a hobby for Watson — it even became a form of escape during tough times, especially when he was bullied at school.
The collection represents a deep personal connection to the franchise, with each item having been carefully preserved over the decades.
After the passing of his mother in 2015 and his father in 2017, Watson made the decision to let go of the collection and give other Star Wars fans the chance to enjoy it.
While this collection isn’t the biggest or most famous, it is unique with a personal backstory that adds to its value.
The auction is scheduled to end on November 11 at 8pm, giving Star Wars fans around the world a chance to bid on rare memorabilia.
Items in the collection are in excellent condition, with many pieces being extremely rare or hard to find.
And Watson hopes that the items will bring as much joy to their new owners as they did to him over the years.
The catalog is available online at Auctioneum’s website, where collectors can preview the lots before bidding.
The auction is a rare opportunity for collectors to own pieces of Star Wars history, many of which have been in Watson’s personal collection since the late ’70s.
For those interested, the full catalog is available now at www.auctioneum.co.uk, and bidding will take place online.
Another Star Wars auction
Another Star Wars auction is currently taking place in the UK, with items such as an original stormtrooper costume set to make a whopping €1million.
There are also helmets and armour from the 1977 film included in the collection, with a guide price of over €500,000 each in Propsore’s sale in London on 14 November.
To date, the model X-Wing, Luke Skywalker’s famous spaceship is still the highest priced Star Wars collectable ever sold, costing over €2.4million.
